The following is a genealogy of the Rudge family associated with Evesham, England based on Frankford (ed.) (ca. 1910) "Rudge, The Name and The Arms", a three page pamphlet brought to my attention by Scott Rudge on 3 Aug 1998. It is clearly an extract from a much larger unnamed landed gentry published some time after 1828, but before 13 May 1841 as it contains no mention of the present esquire of Evesham 57. Edward Rudge as having remarried. The text claims to be based on "manorial grants cited in Shaw's Staffordshire." I have supplemented it with information taken from Burke's (1952) Landed Gentry (17th edition) pp. 2216-7 which takes up the story with 6. John RUGGE and a few additional sources as indicated.

Arms were recorded at the College of Arms in 1634 for Edward Rudge of London, salter, son of Thomas Rudge of Evesham in Worcestershire, "whose Auncestors came formerlie out of Cheshire" at the College of Arms in London in 1634. The shield was blazoned, Quarterly sable and gules, overall a cross engrailed argent. Crest- issuing out of a mural coronet or, two arms 'erected' habited gules, cuffs and hands proper, the hands holding an escutcheon argent. The wording implies that the family had been using this design already, and that it was not a new Grant of Arms- the word 'grant' is not actually used - the text instead says 'exemplifie, confirme, ratefie and allow.'
